Thanks for visiting our website and taking the time to learn a little bit more about Busch Insurance Services, Inc. Ours is a story going back to the mid 1980’s.
My career started in claims. What a great way to learn our business. If you haven’t dealt with an insurance adjuster, they are the folks charged with reading the policies and determining if there is coverage. Then they work on getting claims handled. That’s a short description of a pretty difficult job that encompasses a host of possible pitfalls; the body shop thinks they should be paid more, the claimants aren’t satisfied with the settlement offers…the list goes on and on.
After my stint in claims it was off to the agency business. Wonderful way to make a living, I get to help people, educate people and negotiate for a living. I can’t imagine a better livelihood. I’ve been an agent, operations guy, owner, and producer since 1988.
Some things I know:
If it isn’t fun you’re probably doing it wrong. Some people think insurance can be tedious. No way! This business is fascinating. The history of insurance is the history of commerce and adventure. Ask me about pirates and shipping and I’ll tell you a story that will turn your hair loose (you can see by my photo that I’ve already heard it).
Teamwork is better than working solo; I’ve got a great team.
You don’t have to dread calling someone to ask questions about insurance issues.
If it seems cheap, it probably is.
With many years experience as coach, captain and soccer player, I now realize I have deceptive speed: I’m much slower than I look.
I started my insurance career as a claims adjuster, working on liability and property auto claims. But my exposure to the industry goes all the way back to my Dad’s agency. As a kid I did all kinds of project work for Argus Insurance. I stuffed envelopes, did agency filing, answered the phones when needed.
After graduating from Appalachian State University with a degree in Communication I spent time in an insurance call center before becoming a licensed claims adjuster.
Before going off to college I studied Culinary Arts and I have a background in the food industry. I love to work with restaurateurs and entertainment companies. What a great industry! I’ve spent a lot of time in the house and car insurance arena and am very comfortable discussing pricing and coverage issues.
Some of the things I believe;
Everyone deserves good insurance advice and service.
Buying local is really, really important.
Bocce is an under rated sport and should be played every week.
Hot wings should be hot.
You should be nice to service people.
Price isn’t always the most important thing. Quality is a big deal.
You’ve got to have fun at work.
Who Your Insurance Agent Is Doesn’t Matter… Until It Does
